UHD Health Fair

The UHD Health Fair is a health and wellness educational event sponsored by Sports and Fitness, the Wellness Committee and the Houston Food Bank. The twice yearly event's goal is to assemble university and community partners to educate students and the university community on health issues with the objective of promoting better health outcomes. The fair offers fitness assessments, fitness demonstrations, free food distribution and valuable information about health and wellness services, screenings and other opportunities.​

The purpose of CLPP​P is to reduce the prevalence of childhood lead poisoning in the City of Houston, to educate healthcare professionals and the community members about the hazards of childhood lead poisoning, identify & follow-up care for children with childhood lead poisoning, and provide a surveillance system that monitors blood lead levels.

Mothers Against Drunk DrivingMADD's mission is to eliminate drunk driving, fight against drugged driving, serve the victims and prevent underage drinking.
I will plan to bring Victim Services materials as well as books, literature, underage prevention materials, MADD pens, etc.
MotherToBaby Texas TIPSMotherToBaby Texas TIPS is a free and confidential telephone counseling service that provides information about exposures related to pregnancy and breastfeeding. An exposure can be anything from medications (e.g. prescription and over-the-counter drugs) to alcohol, cigarettes, and even illnesses or health conditions a woman might have. We are funded by the DSHS and located at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
We will be sharing brochures, first aid kits, and pens. 
Houston Health DepartmentBreathe with Pride Houston is an Initiative with Houston Health Department is to reduce the tobacco-related health disparities among the LGBTQ+ communities. Breathe with Pride will distribute Yes Quit and CDC tobacco prevention and control pamphlets.

Houston Police Department-Victim Services DivisionTo provide the public with information about the Victim Services Division. To educate individuals on how to navigate the legal system, pursue charges, and get linked to other social services within the community. We will be providing a blue pamphlet that provides information about a victim's rights and various resources that are available such as counseling or applying for a protective order. 
Legacy Community HealthI will be promoting Legacy's services and collecting any referrals for the clinics depending on service line and insurance. I will distribute the following:

Houston Food BankFlyers for our programs (nutrition education and health promotion) at the Houston Food Bank. We will bring MyPlate models and food models to explain our SNAP-Ed curriculum. 
UHD Main Career CenterUHD Career Coches will provide "Career Check-ups" for students. Career readiness will be assessed and career development materials will be distributed.
City of Houston Housing and Community Development Housing information regarding current programs and also our Fair Housing Division.

El Centro De Corazon Health ClinicsWe help low income families that don't have medical insurance.  Or anyone that don't have medical insurance. I know many of your students can benefit from el centro medical, dental and behavioral health.

Houston Police Department-Victim Services DivisionTo provide information about the Victim Services Division such as education on how to navigate the legal system, where to pursue charges, applying for a protective order, and other various social services an individual can be connected to. We would be providing a blue pamphlet that entails what a person's right are as a victim and important contact numbers to reference to. Informing the public of our locations as to where an individual can go if they need to speak with an advocate.
