About the Program
The Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, at UHD, is a 120-credit-hour program that celebrates
all types of intellectual achievement in the visual and performing arts, literature,
Western and World cultures, and science and technology.
There are four concentrations available:
- Critical Race Studies facilitates an interdisciplinary, academic study of the way various forms of racism contribute to develop and maintain cultural, social, institutional, and legal power structures that marginalize members of various and often intersecting populations.
- Cultural Studies is the investigation and appreciation of the major intellectual trends of humanity, including literature, fine arts, politics, philosophy, and science. This course is available online or face-to-face.
- Latino Studies explores the linguistic, cultural, sociopolitical, historical, artistic, and literary elements that constitute the Latino, Hispanic, and Latin American experiences.
- Religious Studies is the study of Western and World religions, and theology for careers in ministry, pastoral counseling, non-profit work, or other faith-based professions.
Majoring in Humanities will offer great flexibility in your choice of coursework. As a Humanities major, you will be trained to think, write and prescribe a course of action that clearly and creatively addresses the complex, contemporary problems that demand a broad awareness of different disciplines.
