AVP for Student Success
Janina Arrington serves as the Assistant Vice President for Student Success. Before joining UHD, she served as the Executive Director of Student Success at Norfolk State University. Prior to this position she worked at the Houston Community College system level. She has worked in the Virginia Community College System at various locations in a variety of positions to include Professional Counselor, Faculty Advising Coordinator, Associate Director of Advising, Director of Advising and Transfer, and the Quality Enhancement Plan Director at two different colleges. In her varied roles, she has led multiple units, provided oversight on national, state, and local initiatives, developed and managed successful comprehensive programs for advising, student success, retention, and developmental education programs. She has presented for the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), and the John M. Gardner Institute. Dr. Arrington is an advocate for student-centered learning and engagement and enhancing the student experience to improve student success. Dr. Arrington earn her B.S. and M.A. from Norfolk State University and her Ph.D. from Old Dominion University. |
