Nostalgia to Resentment: The Weight of the Past in Nietzsche and Ourselves
A Lecture by Dr. Jason Kemp Winfree
April 5, 2022
1 p.m.
Dr. Jason Winfree is the Chair and a philosophy professor in the Department of Philosophy
and Modern Languages at Stanislaus State in California. Dr. Winfree's primary philosophical
interests concern the intersection of three mutually determining issues: normalization,
exclusion, and excess, and he considers how processes of normalization structure and
regulate our values, discourses, and knowledge. Dr. Winfree will present research
about the thematization of resentment in Nietzsche's work as a response to nostalgia,
and a turn from the religious to the genealogical and political. There will be a
Q&A session following the presentation.
