Alumni Computing Services

Our Information Technology policy is designed to cater to the computing requirements of UHD alumni, supplying the following complimentary services:

  • Access to the Academic Computing Lab (Room S800) equipment and software is available exclusively for resume updates, particularly during periods when the Career Development Center is closed.
  • Laser printing services are offered for final drafts of resumes and cover letters, with a maximum allowance of two printed copies per final draft.

Currently, the issuance of Linux accounts to University of Houston-Downtown alumni by the Information Technology department is temporarily unavailable due to challenges associated with heavy network traffic, network bandwidth limitations, and heightened security considerations.

To ensure the best availability of computing resources for the university community, priority access is given to currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff of the University of Houston-Downtown. Information Technology reserves the authority to deny, limit, or defer access to computing resources for alumni.

It is essential to note that computers and resources within academic computing facilities are strictly appointed for academic purposes and must not be used for business, profit-producing endeavors, or recreational activities. Games are expressly prohibited on all academic computing resources. Furthermore, all computer usage is subject to security testing and monitoring, with users having no expectation of privacy concerning any information stored on UHD computing resources.

Alumni are expected to follow the Regulations for Using Academic Computing Facilities and Resources at the University of Houston-Downtown. Additionally, alumni can enhance their skills through access to IT (Information Technology) training classes offered by the Technology Teaching and Learning Center (TTLC).

For more detailed information on available training classes, please refer to theIT website.
