account,
report it using the 'Report Suspicious Mail' or 'PhishAlarm' button in Outlook.
or
Send a copy of the email directly to the Information Security Office for review at security@uhd.edu.
COVID-19 Cyber Scams
The Department of Homeland Security has issued an advisory warning of scams involving COVID-19, and the UH System Information Security Office is already seeing phishing messages being received by faculty, staff, and students.
Be aware of the following:
- Cyber actors may send emails to trick victims into revealing sensitive information or donating to fraudulent charities or causes.
- Exercise caution in handling such emails—avoid clicking on links and downloading attachments.
- Be wary of social media pleas, texts or calls related to COVID-19.
- Do not reveal personal or financial information in an email, and do not respond to email solicitations for this information.

1/5/2022 - SUBJECT: 2022 New Individual Assistance Program
Thi phishing message contains a link to a malicious form.

SUBJECT: Payroll Error
This phishing message purports to be from a payroll administrator saying that there was an error in the payroll system and tells you to log in to confirm your information. The link takes you to a credential-stealing webpage which is mimicking an Outlook Web Access login page.

SUBJECT: Unusual Sign-In Activity
This phishing message purports to be from a UHD IT Service Desk employee saying that an unauthorized login attempt was detected, and asks you to log in or face suspension of your account. The link takes you to a credential-stealing webpage which is mimicking an Outlook Web Access login page.

SUBJECT: Help Desk
This phishing message purports to be from the Help Desk and tells you that your email will be suspended if you do not log in. The link takes you to a webpage with an O365 background picture where you are asked to log in to a credential-stealing web site.
Job Scams

1/12/2022 - SUBJECT: Employment Opportunity
The scammer is offering a job with UNICEF and will request you reply to the phish stating your interest in the position. The scammer will then ask for more personal information such as a driver's license and also state that they will send a check. Do not deposit checks from scammers.

SUBJECT: Job Placement: Secret Shopper Jobs.
This scam directs you to click on a link that leads to a site with UHD graphics, with a form requesting contact details for a mystery shopper job opportunity.

SUBJECT: JOB OFFER OPPORTUNITY
This scam offers a job opportunity with Consumer Impressions Service. This job scam asks interested parties to click on a link and provide contact details. A variation of this scam mentions a mystery shopper job.
