Get Ready Gators Summer Bridge
The University of Houston-Downtown is committed to expanding educational access and
creating transformational opportunities for all students. The Summer Bridge Program
integrates an intrusive model of academic support and necessary support services to
assist students in their transition from high school to college. Through this program
students begin their academic journey at UHD by enrolling in college level courses.
Additionally, students benefit from the programming in between courses that includes
intrusive academic support in and outside of the classroom, student success services,
career counseling, and leadership training.
If you are graduating from high school in May or June of 2024 with a GPA of 2.25 - 2.6, this program is for you! Participating in this program will strengthen your academic skills, build campus connections, and assist you with transitioning successfully from high school to university life.
Requirements:
- A minimum high school GPA of 2.25 - 2.6
- Plan to graduate high school in May/June 2024
- Fill out the 2023-24 FAFSA
- Tested in math, reading, and writing sections of TSI
- Attend at least one Summer Bridge Workshop that will be offered March-May
- Attend New Student Orientation June 25-27, 2024
- Summer Bridge Program starts July 8, 2024
- Apply to UHD and to Summer Bridge Program. Limited spots available.

Next Steps:
- Submit a Summer Bridge Application Form by July 1, 2024
- Complete a FAFSA or TASFA 2023-2024 application which will assist in covering Summer 2024
- Complete the TSI test
- Complete Bacterial Meningitis Immunization (state requirement)
*Note that you will complete two FAFSA applications 2024 and 2025 (available in December 2023).
