Transfer Students Scholarships
Completion of your Admissions application and formal acceptance as a University of Houston-Downtown student is required to be considered for a UHD Transfer Scholarship. UHD does not have a scholarship application process, however you must meet the following requirements to be considered for a UHD Transfer Scholarship:
- Completion of the admission process and formal acceptance as a UHD student before the end of January 31st, is required. Therefore, an early decision is essential for selection.
- Must have earned a minimum of 45 transfer college credit hours and have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0. The Deans Transfer Scholarship requires a cumulative GPA of 3.5. Scholarship candidates with the highest rankings will be given priority until funds are exhausted.
- All college transcripts must be received in the Admissions Office by January 10th to allow time for processing. If any outstanding transcript(s) are not evaluated in our Student Record system, then the GPA and hours earned reflected will be the information used for selecting eligible transfer candidates.
The General Scholarship Committee will approve candidates based on academic merit. Scholarship candidates are selected based on the academic history found on our Student Record system on January 31st.
The approved transfer scholarship candidates will be notified by mail. Completion of 12 or more college credit hours is required each semester. If all requirements are not met, then scholarship will not be awarded during the upcoming spring semester. The Dean's Scholarship will not be awarded the second year, if enrollment and GPA requirements are not met. Developmental coursework does not count towards the 12 college credit hours required to maintain this scholarship.
Candidates may not be eligible to simultaneously receive another UHD Institutional Scholarship when receiving a UHD Transfer Scholarship. However, additional scholarship awards may be possible, depending on funding availability, at the discretion of the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. However, students may receive a Red Rose Scholarship and/or departmental scholarship during the same academic year.
NEW TRANSFER STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP 2023/2024
- Must be entering Fall as a new transfer student and accepted through Office of Admissions
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 - Submit official transcripts
- Must not have previously earned any credits at UHD.
- Minimum of 45 transfer college/university credits.
- Must enroll in 12 or more UHD college credit hours (fall and spring semesters)
- Non-renewable; not eligible to compete for continuing student scholarships
- Must have a cumulative GPA 3.0 from college/university - Submit official transcripts
- Must be entering for Fall as a new transfer student and accepted through Office of Admissions
- Must not have previously earned any credits at UHD.
- Minimum of 45 transfer college/university credits.
- Must enroll in 12 or more UHD college credit hours (fall and spring semesters)
- Resident of Harris County
- Must demonstrate citizenship
- Involved in student activities
- Non-renewable; not eligible to compete for continuing student scholarships
- Must be entering Fall as a new transfer student and accepted through the Office of Admissions
- Minimum of 45 transfer college/university credits-must be classified as a junior or senior
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 from college/university - Submit official transcripts
- Must not have previously earned any credits at UHD.
- Must enroll in 12 or more UHD college credit hours (fall and spring semesters)
- Financial need may be considered
- Non-renewable; not eligible to compete for continuing student scholarships
- Must be entering Fall as a new transfer student and accepted through the Office of Admissions
- Minimum of 15 transfer college/university credits
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 from college/university - Submit official transcripts
- Must not have previously earned any credits at UHD
- Must enroll between 6 TO 11 UHD college credit hours (fall and spring semesters)
- Financial need may be considered
- Non-renewable; not eligible to compete for continuing student scholarships
- Must be entering Fall as a new transfer student and accepted through Office of Admissions
- Student must be of good moral character
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 - Submit official transcripts
- Must not have previously earned any credits at UHD.
- Minimum of 45 transfer college/university credits.
- Must enroll in 12 or more UHD college credit hours (fall and spring semesters)
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Non-renewable; not eligible to compete for continuing student scholarships
- Must be entering Fall as a transfer student and accepted through the Office of Admissions
- Minimum of 45 transfer college/university credits
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 - Submit official transcripts
- Must not have previously earned any credits at UHD
- Must enroll in 12 or more UHD college credit hours (fall and spring semester)
- May be renewable up to 4 semesters - Fall and Spring awards, if renewable criteria are met each semester, not eligible to compete for continuing student scholarships
- Renewal of awards is contingent upon successful completion of 12 credit hours and
maintaining a 3.0 GPA at the end of each semester.
