Job Summary

The Discovery Services Coordinator Librarian plans and implements the library's online information services, including the library web site, discovery services, and digital content repositories. The Coordinator collaborates with the Assistant Director in the assessment of online services to effectively support the academic mission and goals of the university.

Duties

  • Manages access, discovery, problem resolution, and assessment of all library technologies
  • Supervises staff who provide technical support for library staff, library computer labs, and electronic classrooms, and who ensure that the library's web presence is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible
  • Serves as primary contact with internal departments and vendors concerning library technologies
  • Provides reference services via technology and in-person
  • Provides general and specialized instruction to faculty and students; serves as subject librarian and faculty liaison to selected departments
  • Advises the Assistant Director Library Technical Services on strategic planning of current and future technology projects in the library and in the university

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science or a related field from a University accredited by the American Library Association.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of related job experience

License/Certification:

  • None required

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of implementing library systems, including remote authentication services, integrated library systems, discovery services, and link resolvers;
  • Knowledge of the related trends, issues, and accepted practices.

  • Ability to provide support for library
    • specific software;

Work Location and Physical Demands

Primary Work Location:

  • Works in an office environment (4 - 6 hours), classroom, training room, or auditorium (2 - 4 hours) or a library environment (up to 8 hours).

Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements; individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks
  • Must have precise hand-eye coordination, good spatial awareness, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors
