Participant Bill of Rights

Have you been asked to be a subject in a research study? Have you been asked to consent for someone else? Know your rights as a participant:

1. You have the right to know purpose of the study (also sometimes called research project).
2. You have the right to have all procedures and expectations explained to you clearly in easy to understand language.
3. You have the right to know if you may experience any potential risks or discomforts from the study.
4. You have the right to know if the benefits, if any, you might expect from the study.
5. You have the right to ask any questions about the study or the procedures involved and to have those questions answered clearly and to your satisfaction.
6. You have the right to quit the study at any time for any reason. This decision will NOT negatively impact your standing with an instructor, a course, your department, your college, or UHD.
7. You have the right to have a copy of the signed and dated consent form.
8. You have the right to decide whether you want to consent or not to consent to a study without feeling forced or pressured.
