Participant Bill of Rights
Have you been asked to be a subject in a research study? Have you been asked to consent for someone else? Know your rights as a participant:
- You have the right to know purpose of the study (also sometimes called research project).
- You have the right to have all procedures and expectations explained to you clearly in easy to understand language.
- You have the right to know if you may experience any potential risks or discomforts from the study.
- You have the right to know if the benefits, if any, you might expect from the study.
- You have the right to ask any questions about the study or the procedures involved and to have those questions answered clearly and to your satisfaction.
- You have the right to quit the study at any time for any reason. This decision will NOT negatively impact your standing with an instructor, a course, your department, your college, or UHD.
- You have the right to have a copy of the signed and dated consent form.
- You have the right to decide whether you want to consent or not to consent to a study without feeling forced or pressured.
