PI Eligibility

The Principal Investigator (PI) for a human subjects research study is the individual who is responsible for how the activities described in the IRB application are conducted and for ensuring that the welfare and rights of individuals participating in the study are protected. The PI must be available to devote the time and attention to a study to ensure that it is conducted in a responsible manner.

Who Is Eligible to Serve as a Principle Investigator on Human Research Projects?

UHD Staff that hold a tenured/tenure-track faculty rank
Non-tenure-track faculty (Lecturers, Adjuncts, etc.) that have research/scholarly/creative activities as part of their duties in their contracts

Librarians
Non-tenure-track faculty (Lecturers, Adjuncts, etc.) that do not have research/scholarly/creative activities as part of their duties in their contracts
