Dean's Advisory Council

The mission of the UHD Marilyn Davies College of Business Dean’s Advisory Council is to provide strategic insights and business expertise to MDCOB leadership in the areas of program development and assessment, student and faculty engagement, student recruiting and career development, and external and corporate partnerships. Its members are some of Houston’s most outstanding business leaders and they serve as ambassadors who help connect MDCOB to the broader business community and ensure our status as one of Texas’ best business schools.

 

 

Tim Brady  

Tim Brady

Chairman Emeritus
Brady Chapman Holland & Associates (BCH)

Mr. Tim Brady was a founder of Brady Chapman Holland & Assoc. (BCH), in 1983 and served as Chairman,President & CEO until 2003. BCH offers risk management services, including commercial insurance, bonds, employee benefits, human capital management, life and financial services & safety/loss control services. Mr. Brady currently serves as Chairman Emeritus of BCH and is dedicated to coaching and mentoring young executives as well as expanding the risk services & safety/loss control services. Earlier in his career, he was the national sales manager for The Nordstrom Group, and district manager for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co.

Mr. Brady serves on numerous boards, including the Texas Insurance Education Foundation, that he also co-founded, the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation & the Advisory Council of the Risk Management & Insurance Center at UHD. He is also a past president and board member of both the Independent Insurance Agents of Houston & of Texas and has served on many insurance company advisory boards.

Ruby Munoz Dang  

Ruby Muñoz Dang

Ms. Ruby Muñoz Dang is Partner and Director of Marketing & Client Services with Garcia Hamilton & Associates, LP, (GH&A) Houston. Ms. Muñoz Dang joined GH&A as a portfolio administrator in 1994, her first job out of college, and over the years has held a variety of positions, including equity trader, equity research analyst and assistant equity portfolio manager. In 2014, Ms. Muñoz Dang was promoted to Partner, as well as Director of Marketing & Client Services.

Ms. Muñoz Dang is a Past Trustee for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County Non-Union Pension Plan & Trust, and she frequently speaks on event panels and forums related to market and pension issues. She is a member of the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity, a nonprofit that selects minority students for Wall Street internships, and she devotes considerable time mentoring high school and college students.

Lynne Hackedorn

Talos Energy

Ms. Lynne L. Hackedorn is an accomplished business executive with over 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. She currently serves as the Director of Government Affairs for Talos Energy in Houston. Prior to joining Talos, she represented Marubeni Oil & Gas (USA) as Land and Government Affairs Consultant, and worked for over ten years with Cobalt International Energy, most prominently as Vice President, Government and Public Affairs.

During her successful career, Ms. Hackedorn has held both technical and management positions with other highly successful companies, including Spinnaker Exploration, El Paso Energy, Sonat Exploration, Zilkha Energy and ARCO Oil & Gas. Ms. Hackedorn is a native Houstonian, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Houston-Downtown, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She has served on numerous prestigious industry boards, including the National Ocean Industries Association and the OCS Advisory Board, and currently serves on the board of Neighbors in Action, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides vital support to families in the Port Houston community.

Diva Herazo

Ms. Diva Herazo is the co-founder and president of Biomedent, Inc., a dental management company that performs preventive services using mobile facilities brought directly to schools, businesses, and communities. A native of Bogota, Colombia, Ms. Herazo formed the Houston-based company in 2005 with her husband, Dr. Jose Habib, who is an accomplished dentist and healthcare professional.

In Colombia, Ms. Herazo earned a bachelor’s of science in communications from Universidad Javeriana, one of the top schools in South America for journalism. She became a successful media and public relations executive, before launching her own event production company, H&H Productions, which managed and promoted various international artists. Ms. Herazo is a board member of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and has received notable recognition over the years, including being named one of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses in 2011, and receiving the 2017 State of Texas Governor’s Small Business Award.

Gilbert A. Herrera

Gilbert is an advisor to closely held and family owned businesses serving the energy, health care, professional services and media/telecom sectors, providing transaction, litigation and business valuation services. He also has extensive community involvement in municipal infrastructure, economic development, affordable housing and health care delivery services. In 2018, he joined LaPorte CPAs and Business Advisors as Director - Consulting Services Group after 25 years as owner of Herrera Partners, a Houston-based private investment-banking firm.

Mr. Herrera’s community and business affiliations include the board member of the Downtown Houston Management District; chair, City of Houston Rebuild Houston Oversight Committee; Dean’s Council, McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin; executive committee member, Chancellor’s Council, University of Texas System; member, UTMB Development Board; chairman emeritus, Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Lisa Laminack

Trustee/Secretary, C.T. Bauer Foundation

Ms. Lisa Laminack is an accomplished account executive with Commercial Flooring Services, Inc. and also serves as Trustee/Secretary for the C.T. Bauer Foundation, an independent nonprofit foundation with assets of $60 million. She earned a bachelor’s of business administration in accounting from the University of Houston Downtown and has successfully established herself with companies in various sectors, including 14 years with EEPB, a tax audit-consulting firm specializing in the oil & gas industry.

As the Trustee/Secretary for the C. T. Bauer Foundation, Ms. Laminack helps monitor approximately $3,000,000 in grants annually from the Houston-based private foundation that supports charitable organizations. The Bauer Foundation’s primary mission benefits education and/or children, and her fiduciary duties include planning, budgeting and safeguarding the assets of the foundation.

Dr. Andrew Nobbay

Director - Carbon Accounting
Oxy

Andrew is the Director – Carbon Accounting for Oxy. He began his tenure with Oxy in Doha, Qatar in 1995 and progressed through leadership roles in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Bahrain and now corporate HQ in Houston. Prior to Oxy, he worked at Arthur Andersen in Kuwait and Oman as a senior consultant and auditor. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA).

Andrew maintains active affiliations with several organizations, including Financial Executives International (FEI), the American Society of CPAs, the Institute of Management Accountants and UH-Downtown Marilyn Davies College of Business MBA program (Corporate Fellow). He served on the board of the Houston Angel Network, an association of private investors, and currently serves on the board of FEI Houston’s Scholarship Foundation.

Lisa Paulk

Ms. Lisa Paulk is the Senior Vice President/West Region Managing Director for The Siegfried Group, LLP, a financial advisory firm based in Wilmington, DE. Ms. Paulk began her tenure with Siegfried as director in 2011, was promoted to Managing Director in 2015, and now oversees the firm’s Western Region. Prior to joining The Siegfried Group, Ms. Paulk served in various leadership positions with Arthur Andersen, Ernst & Young and Innovar Partners.

Ms. Paulk maintains several professional and personal affiliations, including the Texas Society of CPAs (director), Houston CPA Society, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Good Herdsman subcommittee, and Family Services of Greater Houston. She has also served as a MBA Corporate Fellow for the UH-Downtown Marilyn Davies College of Business.

Omar Reid

Omar C. Reid is the Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer for Harris Health System. Harris Health System, also known as the Harris County Hospital District, is the fourth-largest community based hospital system in the U.S. Mr. Reid is responsible for all Human Resources programs, policies and initiatives, including Talent Acquisition, Organizational Development, Employee & Labor Relations, Compensation, Benefits, and HR Information Systems, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Prior to joining Harris Health System, Mr. Reid worked over 25 years with United Parcel Service and six years leading Human Resources for the City of Houston. 

Mr. Reid is an established leader among HR professionals, and the co-author of two publications: “Traffic of Life: Characteristics of Effective Leadership”, and M.A.D. Leadership: Making a Difference (Show the People the Light and They Will Find Their Way. He maintains numerous professional affiliations, including the International Public Management Association for Human Resources-Senior Certified Professional, Texas Chapter (Past-President), Communities in Schools (Board Chair). He serves as MBA Corporate Fellow for the UH-Downtown Marilyn Davies College of Business, and Adjunct Professor at Texas Southern University’s School of Public Policy.

Hector Villarreal

Mr. Hector Villarreal is Partner and Co-Owner of LUCHO, a Houston-based designer, manufacturer, and retailer of high-end clothing for men and shoes for women. Mr. Villarreal is a successful entrepreneur and businessman who arrived in Houston in the 1980’s from his native Mexico, where he graduated from the Technológico de Monterrey. He began his tenure in Houston as the Weather Anchor for Channel 45, Univision’s local affiliate, where he worked for over 8 years. He acquired LUCHO in 2002, and has become a mainstay in Houston’s corporate and social circles ever since.

Mr. Villarreal is active on several numerous boards, including art organization Theater Under The Stars, and he has developed a strong affiliation with the University of Houston System.

Bin Yu

Mr. Bin Yu is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Utegration LLC, a full-service SAP Utilities company based in Houston. Mr. Yu founded Utegration LLC in 2008 and served as CEO until 2018, when he stepped down to focus on company strategy. In its first 12 years, Utegration LLC has been recognized as one of the top SAP consultants nationwide. Prior to starting Utegration, Mr. Yu worked for Deloitte Consulting and later joined SAP America, where he became a Platinum Consultant and manager of SAP’s U.S. Utilities Consulting Team.

The Asian Chamber of Commerce recognized Mr. Yu in 2013 as Entrepreneur of the Year, and he strives to provide entrepreneurial opportunities to young professionals who are just beginning their careers. In 2016, Mr. Yu was selected as one of the winners of Immigrant Business Magazine’s Immigrant Entrepreneur of the Year. He has served as board director for the Asian Chamber of Commerce for the last 6 years, and Chair of the Chamber in 2019.
