Fire & Life Safety Permits
Permit Information
The University of Houston-Downtown Office of Emergency Management & Fire Safety ensures that all buildings and activities meet requirements and maintain compliance with NFPA 101 and NFPA 1.
All construction plans must be reviewed and approved by this office. Construction
and installation of fire protection systems require permits. Permits are also required
for fire and life safety systems and are issued by the UHD Office of Emergency Management
& Fire Safety.
Permits Include
- New Construction and Remodel
- Fire Alarm Repair, Install, and Testing
- Fire Sprinkler Repair, Install, and Testing
- Fire Sprinkler Water Line Inspection and Testing
- Hot Work Permit (Cutting, Welding, Brazing, Grinding, Dust)
- Fire Protection System Impairment Permit
- Certificates of Occupancy - Certificates of Occupancy will be issued once final fire and life safety inspections/acceptance testing have been completed.
