Managing Junk Mail
Dialing in how your mail clients (Outlook desktop or Office 365 webmail www.uhd.edu/o365) handles junk is a bit of a balancing act. Too restrictive and you start to get false positives. Too relaxed and your inbox overflows with junk.
Manual Junk Email Management
To manually manage your junk email, regularly check your junk mailbox and use one of the options available by right clicking. After a while you will have your mail dialed in for junk mail handling.
Outlook Desktop Client
- Right Click the valid email, expand Junk, and choose Not Junk
- This will move the message back to your inbox and file it chronologically based on the date and time it was received.
Office 365 webmail
- Login to your Office 365 webmail at http://www.uhd.edu/o365
- Right Click the valid email and choose Mark as Not Junk
- This will move the message back to your inbox and file it chronologically based on the date and time it was received.
Managing Junk Email with Junk Handling Settings
You can dial in your junk email further by adjusting junk handling settings.
Outlook Desktop Client
- Choose the Home tab
- Choose Junk Email Options
- Choose your filter level
Office 365 Webmail
- Login to your Office 365 webmail at http://www.uhd.edu/o365
- Make sure you are not in the New Outlook - upper right (You can always switch back later)
- Click the gear icon located in the upper right
- Select Mail under Your app settings on the bottom
- Click Mail>Accounts>Block or Allow
