Student Activities Traditions
Welcome Week
Welcome Week is a tradition that welcomes new and current students each fall and spring semester to the campus during the first week of classes. It gives students the opportunity to connect with other students while experiencing a schedule of fun and student-centered activities.
Greek Week
Greek Week is a series of events where Greek students participate in programs and activities that celebrate the values of Greek Life and the university. Members from a wide variety of Greek organizations come together to promote service and Greek awareness in a fun environment, highlighting the talent and dedication of the Greek community at the University of Houston-Downtown.
Student Involvement Day
Student Involvement Day is an annual spotlight on student organizations and services and community affiliates. Held each fall and spring semesters, it allows new as well as current students the opportunity to check out the various clubs and organizations on campus, student and departmental programs, and volunteer opportunities.
Bayou Bash
Culture on the Bayou is our largest spring event at UHD. It provides cultural entertainment, live music, food, and fun to celebrate the richness of UHD. Clubs and organizations registered with the university use this time to fund raise, and raise awareness about their organizations. The evening component is the Bayou Bash which has crawfish, drinks, and zydeco music.
One Main Event
One Main Event is our annual awards gala recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of our student organizations and their members throughout the year. Held each spring, this semi-formal event provides student organizations opportunity to individually recognize and award organization members who have committed valuable time and energy before an audience of their peers. The Office of Student Activities uses this opportunity to recognize outstanding student organizations that have made a positive difference both on campus and in our community.
