Appeal of Financial Aid Suspension

If you believe that there were extenuating circumstances that led to your unsatisfactory progress, there is an option to appeal that may reinstate eligibility.

Appeals may be made based on:

• A death in the immediate family.
• Serious injury or illness of the student or a member of the immediate family.
• Improvement sufficient to meet required standards while attending a subsequent semester at a student’s own expense.
• Special circumstances to be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Financial aid appeals must be submitted to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid by the established deadline.  Download the Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form from the forms site for instructions and deadlines.  You can only appeal financial aid suspension a maximum of three times in your academic career.

If the decision to reinstate financial aid eligibility is made based on an appeal, you will be placed on financial aid probation.  You will remain eligible for financial aid on a probationary basis for one semester, and progress will be reviewed at the end of that semester.  Terms of probation will be provided at the time of approval.
