Satisfactory Academic Progress

Criteria for Satisfactory Academic Progress:

Regulations mandate that UHD evaluate grade point average, course completion rate, and maximum timeframe.

  • Grade Point Average (GPA) refers to the average of all grades that have been earned at UHD.
  • Completion rate refers to the number of hours you have earned versus the number of hours attempted.  This requirement takes into consideration both transfer hours and hours earned at UHD.  To determine the completion rate, divide the cumulative number of hours earned by the cumulative number of hours attempted.
  • Maximum timeframe refers to the length of time it takes to earn a degree.
UNDERGRADUATE AND POST-BACCALAUREATE STUDENT REQUIREMENTS
Grade Point Average (GPA) Undergraduate students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average in all hours attempted at UHD.
Completion Rate Students must complete 73% of all hours attempted, including transfer hours.
Maximum Timeframe Undergraduates must complete their program of study with no more than 170 hours to include all transfer credit hours.

GRADUATE STUDENT REQUIREMENTS
Grade Point Average (GPA) Graduate students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average in all hours attempted at UHD.
Completion Rate Students must complete 73% of all hours attempted, including transfer hours.
Maximum Timeframe Graduates must complete their program of study with no more than 54 hours to include all hours that have been attempted as a graduate at all schools attended.

If you are not in compliance with the standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress at the time of review, financial aid eligibility will be suspended for the upcoming aid period.  Financial aid eligibility will be reinstated once the required cumulative GPA is attained, and an overall completion rate of at least 73% is achieved.
